Bowen Neuro Therapy and Neuro-structural Integration

Bowen Technique

A totally different approach to injury, body imbalance, stress etc: the client receives non-invasive gentle/firm moves over muscle or tendons. In simple terms the bodies own systems are being stimulated to trigger healing, (not unlike acupuncture but no needles or equipment are used). Treatment can be performed whilst fully clothed (wear loose clothing). Bowen Neuro Therapy is a remarkably effective bodywork technique which initiates the process of natural auto-regulation to occur in the spinal column and consequently throughout the whole body. Other techniques such as Auricular Therapy with Laser Light or Kinesiology based testing for toxicity, nutritional and emotional problems may also be used.

The Bowen technique was developed by Thomas Ambrose Bowen at Geelong, Australia and named after him following his death in the early eighties. It has since flourished and spread world wide. It is a non-invasive therapy consisting of gentle moves over the muscles and soft tissues, interspersed with periods of rest.
A Bowen Technique treatment affects the body in ways which promote healing, pain relief and recovery of energy. The experience of the treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing. It is these features which make the Bowen technique so unique. Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Sports therapists, and Physiotherapist are among the many practitioners who practice it and are continually amazed at the effectiveness of this simple and gentle form of 'hands on therapy'.

To apply the therapy the practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points on the body, making rolling type moves which aim to stimulate the energy into the muscles and soft tissue. During the treatment the therapist may leave the room for short periods, allowing the client to rest while the body responds to the moves already performed and makes subtle adjustments to initiate the healing process.

A treatment usually lasts about 45 minutes and can be applied through light, loose fitting clothing. It is recommended that in order to obtain the full benefit. Other 'hands on' therapy are not applied less than 7 days before or after Bowen as these may interfere with the healing process.

The Bowen Technique encourages re-alignement of the body; there is no manipulation of the hard tissue and no force is used or needed. Treatment at regular intervals can help manage stress and encourage health maintenance.

Neuro-structural Integration Technique (NST)
Originating from the amazing life's work of the Australian bodywork and osteopathic genius of Tom Bowen 1916-1982, NST is a powerful and accurate interpretation of his advanced principles, completely unique in its construction, style and philosophy.
Bowen, who was renowned for his ongoing and exceptional record of working with some 13,000 individuals per year, had an almost 100% success rate, mostly only needing 2-3 treatments.
NST (Neurostructural integration technique) was developed between 1991 and 1995 by Michael J. Nixon-Livy from Melbourne, Australia. NST has been specifically crafted to provide the same dependable level of health care that Bowen himself was able to provide.
NST has earned itself the reputation as being the world's leader in Bowen derived therapies and is a powerful living tribute to the work of Tom Bowen, and the thousands of skilled practitioners who continue to practice this most valuable professional healing art.
NST is a remarkably effective professional bodywork technique that when applied, initiates a process of natural auto-regulation to occur in the spinal column and consequently throughout the entire body. The resultant effect of this is a rapid elimination or reduction of symptoms, followed by an increase in energy and an unmistakable sense of well being.
As NST simply creates a context for the natural process of auto-regulation to occur, it can be therefor safely applied to an extensive range of condition, for new born babies, the elderly and every age group in between.
While substantial relief is frequently experienced after the first session, long term resolution is generally attained after the second or third session. Certain chronic or degenerative conditions may benefit from further ongoing attention.
